Do You Remember Rock & Roll Radio?

23 Aug

Fornatale

We had the distinct honor of last evening of helping to pay tribute to one of the giants of this magical medium we call radio. Our dear friend Peter Thomas Fornatale visited the program on the eve of what would have been his father’s 67th birthday. Tragically Pete Fornatale passed away suddenly in April. Please visit Peter’s blog for his thoughts on the evening and his father’s legacy, as well as links to recordings of the broadcast. We only wish to add that a debt of gratitude is owed to Pete and his fellow pioneering DJ’s on the FM dial who inspired folks like us to get involved and aspire to encourage others to explore and expand their musical boundaries. I also had the pleasure of meeting Pete’s dad on a couple of occasions and he was both warm and gracious as well as full of tremendous stories. He is and will be missed by many…..

After our latest two week hiatus we return this evening for a planned 3-4 straight run of programs that we hope will somewhat redeem our excessively absent ways this summer. So tune in to WSPN beginning at 6pm for a musical ride that will be going lots of places, none of them nowhere!
